Day 1: Melbourne – Adelaide

Depart from your flight to Adelaide.  Upon arrival, you are transferred to the hotel.  Then, free at your own leisure.

Day 2: Grand Adelaide Tour (597)

With its vibrant culture built on world famous festivals, food and wine, cosmopolitan Adelaide is an elegant city with a rich past and a passion for fine living.Its historic buildings, gardens, wide boulevards and over 7 square kilometres of green parklands circling the city centre make Adelaide truly unique.

Morning

  • Classic Victoria Square – heart of the city
  • Cosmopolitan Gouger Street – home to Chinatown, great restaurants and bars
  • Grand boulevard of King William Street with Beehive Corner at Rundle Mall
  • The Terraces – north, south, east and west that separate the city from the parklands
  • River Torrens – picturesque garden banks
  • Elegant Parliament House
  • State Library
  • Trinity Church – Adelaide’s oldest church
  • Trendy Hutt Street where Adelaide loves to eat, drink and relax
  • Visit famous Haigh’s Chocolates* – enjoy complimentary tea or coffee and fine chocolates after a tour of the factory
  • Stop at St Peter’s Cathedral
  • Stunning Adelaide Oval – one of Australia’s most notable cricket grounds and houses the Bradman collection
  • Colonel Light’s on Montefiore Hill – panoramic views over Adelaide
  • Beautiful Plane Tree Drive alongside the Botanic Gardens and Adelaide Zoo

You will be returned to the city for free time/lunch (own expense) before re-joining the coach for your afternoon tour.

Tour the highlights of Adelaide then travel to the Adelaide Hills with its quaint villages and stunning distant land and seascapes. The Adelaide Hills claim a universal appeal to the nature lover, the artist, the wanderer and the curious. The Bavarian icon village of Hahndorf epitomises the character and rural charm that bring so many to these superb settings.

Afternoon

  • Hisotoric and spectacular North and East Terraces
  • Trendy Hutt Street where Adelaide loves to eat, drink and relax
  • Leafy eastern suburbs
  • Climb Mt Lofty Ranges for spectacular views over Adelaide from Glenelg to the Gulf St Vincent
  • Villages of Crafers, Stirling and Aldgate set amongst the lush greenness of the Adelaide Hills
  • Stop at famous Beerenberg Strawberry Farm, a household name throughout Australia and beyond
  • Visit Australia’s oldest German settlement – Hahndorf
  • Stroll under the Elm trees along Hahndorf’s main street
  • Delicious afternoon tea with old fashioned hospitality in delightful surrounds (or try a trio sampler of Germany’s best beers)
  • Quaint cottages, historic inns, artisan food producers, craft shops and tea rooms

Day 3: Riverboats on the Murray Tour with Lunch (583)

Travel through rolling hills and Mallee outback to the mighty River Murray bringing watered life to a thirsty land – a land now rich in green vineyards, golden citrus orchards and prosperous rural communities. Mannum – the birthplace of the River Murray Paddlesteamers and the River Murray gateway to the harsh empty inland of Australia, still reeking with our historic past – the bawdy days of the riverboat men toiling up river in the blazing sun.

  • As you travel to the region, learn about the history and importance of paddle steamers for Adelaide
  • Mannum – birthplace of the River Murray paddle steamers
  • Cruise the Murray River on either the Proud Mary Riverboat or the Captain Proud Paddle Wheeler
  • Enjoy coffee or tea on boarding the boat with lunch following
  • Cruise past soaring cliffs, ancient river red gums, green willows and lose count of all the birdlife
  • Opportunity to see the 100 year old PS Marion paddle steamer after your cruise
  • Visit a scenic lookout that offer a stunning overview of Mannum
  • Spectacular drive through Torrens Valley including Palmer and Tunkillo
  • Return to Adelaide via Melba’s Chocolate Factory at Woodside

NOTE: Cruise boat may vary due to operational requirements. Either the Proud Mary Riverboat or Captain Proud Paddle Wheeler will be used. Lunch on the Proud Mary Riverboat is a buffet with tea/coffee. Lunch on the Captain Proud Paddle Wheeler is two courses with tea/coffee.

Mon and Fri Depart: 9:15am Return: 5:15pm

Day 4: Adelaide – Melbourne

Enjoy your own free time until you are transferred to the airport to catch the flight back to your sweet home.

Note: Additional surcharges will be applied during high season (18Dec-30Jan), extra $15 per night for adult and extra $5 per night for child. Child price apply for children from age 3 to 12.
